Me in Ho Chi Ming
I started my Southeast Asia trip on this Monday, 4PM. I took a train from Beijing West station.
I met lots of troubles so far.. luckily, im fine.
-------
First night on the train
I spent the whole night on the train from Beijing to Nanning.. pretty crowded. Frist I met a British guy on the train, we talked a lot about the southeast asia. He took an airplane from Bangkok to Beijing and only had staied in Beijing for about 2 days. We talkedall the way along, for almost 8 hours. Before left, he said.. we can be "long distance friend':) I think we will keep in touch!
I met two Chinese guys later from a tech university in Henan province. They got on the train almost in the midnight. Actually i met them because I took their seat :D (I have no seat myeslf...) they didnt want me to stand up for the whole trip, so we 3 were in 2 seats.
Later I found i cant go to Hanoi from this damn train!! the timetable i got from the Beijing station was wrong!!! so i had to go off in Nanning.. : S the train sucks..
I went to Pingxiang on the border the day after and went to the border by motorbike. At the checking station, the vietnam side had quite a lot of corruption. Everyone has to hand in some money if you dont have a kinda "healthy card". I had no small bill of vietnam Dong, so i give him 100,000 Dong (about 8$), and he didnt give anything back!! then i smiled to him , and talked in some ununderstandable chinese saying that i have no money.. i thinkhe thought i was a quite funny girl so he gave me 50,000 back :D
I met several other chinese ppl after i went through the border. we shared a car to Hanoi. one guy took me to the train station to buy the ticket but all the trains were full.. : S later he called a vietnam friend, a quite pretty girl, for help. we found the only way for me to get to Ho Chi Ming in time had to be by air.. so he called a taxi took us to the airport.. we got the ticket at the last minute.. about 15 min before flying.. not really cheap, about 45$..
I really really need to thank them.. if I didnt meet them , i wouldnt be able to survive i guess. ..and .. they even bought me the airplane ticket..I was so moved.. we were just strangers.
